Well I went with PPG on epoxy, sealer and DBC and was inquiring which PPG clear to use for my needs …..my needs were that I
dont want to rush ,good longer pot life ,durability, high solids and easy to spray for first timer .
I told him more than a few times that price was not an issue bcs it being a total restoration and the usual fella I deal
with told me that he can make more $ if he sold me a PPG clear but that I would be very happy with it ,he also showed me pics on his phone of finished uncut or buffed jobs with this clear ….of course they always look fantastic in pics.
it seems like I will be the test pilot on this one :unsure:May 21, 2016 at 3:06 am #49292
I also emailed the USA distributor of this product in Florida and he responded very quickly :
Our Clear Coats compete with leading European Clearcoats from Sikkens or Glasurit but at significantly lower cost (eg our 92-50 & 82-50).These are UHS (60% solids) and HS (50% solids) respectively.
the only issue I have is that I basically cannot find reviews and such of this brand online even though its been around a while ,but it is sold in many paint supply store across the USAMay 21, 2016 at 3:33 am #49293
I would go with a PPG clear as money is not a factor. DCU2021 is an awesome clear.May 25, 2016 at 7:14 pm #49296
Well I sprayed the automotive art hs clear and WOW …..but then again I have nothing else to compare it to bcs its my first bs/cc job
Good gloss and just hope we have some longevity to it ….I got very lucky ..my flat surfaces are sweet but my side panels have very minimum op ..next time I drink down a six pack so to be more relaxed :stoned ….might not even cut and buff …so I can safely say the paint store guy steered me in right direction

clear and basecoats are all relatively the same. they all buy the resins from one or two companies around the world. it all comes down to what company markets theirs the best. solids content is what will make clears different. and 50% solids is good stuff.
