How to Backsand for Primer

Backsanding is the final preparation step prior to priming. Backsanding is simply done to allow your primer overspay to land on a sanded surface. We want to primer only from the feathering inward, but to do so we will end up priming a bit beyond. You must only spray primer on a sanded surface. To backsand we use 320-400 and sand a bit beyond your feathering. Sand far enough so you can prime your feathering and your primer overspray won\’t travel beyond your backsand.
