I\'d been driving my sunfire around with a huge hole in the armrest for a while and decided I should do something about it. I don\'t know the exact protocol for this type repair so I just made do with what I had.
I kept the repair pretty simple and hacked it together somewhat, here what the damage looked like to start, not sure how it happened, just how I bought the car.
Started by tapping the top, sanding & cleaning the bottom with plastic cleaner. Applied an aerosol adhesion promoter to the plastic.
Mixed up some kitty hair (polyester re-enforced long hair fiberglass)and laid it to the inside.
Then I spotted out a little crack so I V\'d it out a bit, sanding the area with some 80, adhesion promoter & tape. I\'ll apply some epoxy their when i do the front.
After sanding the front side with some 80-120 grit I applied 3M Automix epoxy to it.
After sanding it down it looks like this:
Then a quick skim of evercoat putty:
After sanding with some 120 (should have went finer.. oops)
Some Rattlecan Primer (kent)
Some Base & Clear (2K clear)
my arm can finally rest again...in style
