Hey guys, we have been spraying PPG for 5 + years now. They have phenomenal color match, and overall its a nice system to use. however, ever since we have started using it clear coat delamination has been an issue. if there is a chip that starts on a hood lets say, and the customer happens to hit it with the wand too aggressively the whole clear coat job can be blown off if wanted. sprayed akzo sikkens before this, never saw it happen.
They came out with a modifier for the base coat to help it harden once we started to see this issue in a big way, and then since then i’d have to say the warranty claims have been less, however there is still the odd one that is delaminating. i wanted to see, of the QUALITY ORIENTED SHOPS out there, have any of you experience this? we are quite picky on using flex add in plastic parts for sealers and clears etc.
