Used Car Economical Repair Video
This is one of many jobs we\'ve received from a local car lot where they place a much higher value on price then quality. We try to keep costs to a minimum while offering an acceptable look on the vehicle.
We do very little R&I on a job like this. To start the scratch is feathered out with some 180 grit then backsanded with 400 grit paper. A low quality aerosol primer is applied (after the plastic adhesion promoter) over the feathering. It is then blocked flat and the entire molding on the quarter and door are scuffed with a pad and paste.
After taping up the car it moves to the booth where it is painted. This blend is done backwards starting with the first coat being the blend and the next two come inward to cover the primer (reverse blend). This is good on high metallic colors because you are never blending over the previous coats overspray.
As you can see it still looks great but it runs a risk of problems where you dont R/I and the spot primer used wont be as durable compared to a 2K. This is obviously a different business then repairing customer vehicles.

The video cut out btw so you\'ll have to use your imagination for the end.
