This is a spot repair on a caravan. It is intended as an economical alternative to a complete respray on the bumper cover. Clear coating the whole bumper is the best way to do this type of repair. When it\'s not in the budget, this is how we do it:

To start almost the entire bumper has been washed, degreased and polished with a coarse compound. This allows for the blender to have something to adhere to. (the scratches created from the polishing). The scratch was feathed out and primed. It was then sanded with 600 and the surrounding area was sanded with 3M 3000 trizact for the clear coats mechanical adhesion. The basecoat stayed within the 3000 and the clearcoat ended at it. The backmask was done by using the body line and hanging a piece of tape off the roll.

I did want to get a picture of the final result but the van ended up being delivered before I had a chance. I wet sanded the blend area with 2000 grit paper and polished it up for an undetectable transition.
